Students on Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in the field of computer science may, in accordance with the provisions of Section 5 of the respective study regulations, undertake an industrial work placement / internship and thus earn ungraded credits from the mandatory elective section of their study programme.
The industrial work placement / internship involves working full-time in a company, organization or research institution. Students must arrange their own work placement / internship and must apply to and obtain approval from the Examination Board before starting. Approval will not be granted after the work placement or internship has begun.
The application must include at least the following information:
Make sure that you submit your application early enough so that approval can be granted before the intended start date. Please be aware that you will need to have completed your work placement / internship before you can apply to register your thesis project.
After completing the work placement / internship you are required to compile a report. The report must be signed by you and by a representative of the host company, organization or institution and then submitted to the Examinations Office. Alternatively, you may submit a report on your work placement / internship signed by you together with a work reference or testimonial issued by the host company, organization or institution.
The number of ECTS credits earned for your work placement / internship will depend on the total number of hours worked. To enable the Examinations Office to assess your workload during the work placement / internship, you must also submit your internship contract to the Examinations Office. Students can earn a maximum of 6 credits by completing an industrial work placement / internship.
